Walker Ranch is back in action!

Today was a great day of crosstraining!  This morning I had the chance to get out on the mountain bike with my buddy Luke.  Boulder County made the announcement early this week that Walker Ranch would be opening on Saturday following repairs from Stormpocilipse back in September.  If you haven’t been, Walker is a challenging 7.25 mile loop with a good offering of technical sections and a hefty 2,500 ft of elevation gain coming off the back of two rather thrilling descents (when ridden clockwise).  I didn’t make it to the trail last year so I was thrilled to get my wheels in the dirt/snow.

Our ride was also a good reminder that I’m in need of some additional altitude training.  I did a bit too much huffing and puffing for my liking and even had to stop and rest in the climb more times than I would like.

As the off-season hits full swing, I’m making one last play for a little cross training on the mountain bike before I’m no longer able.  Clayre and I are also going to be hitting the Mountains soon for a little ski action.  Her motor skills have improved tremendously, so I’m pretty pumped to get her up on the hill.  Her bike riding will have to wait a bit.
