Time to go back to work

Well. I did it. 2 full weeks with no training. It’s been 19 months since I’ve had a break that long, and hopefully it will be at least 12 more before I have another.

The first few days were great. Fresh off a century ride, my legs needed some time to recover and are used to getting it after a big event. Then the third day happened. I woke up feeling good, but about mid day, my whole body ached. It didn’t ache from soreness, but rather the need to get out and do something, anything. That feeling progressed a few steps farther every day for the first week and a half. After that, it somewhat leveled off. These last few days have been rough, and even more so since I’m home for the weekend. The bike has taunted me.

The first week back will definitely be interesting, especially with the current travel schedule. I’m looking forward to getting on the bike Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully I’ll make it for a trip with either the Tri Club or the Cycling club.

It’s good to be back.
